What areas can be treated?

The areas commonly treated with Sculptra® include: the temples, the mid cheek region and the lower face for hollowing, depressions, fine lines and jowling. Sculptra® can be evenly distributed in all of these areas or focused injections can be performed in specific target regions.

Who would be suitable for this treatment?

Anyone can benefit from the treatment, but in particular, people with dry, aged or dull skin.

Why Sculptra?

SCULPTRA ADDRESSES AN UNDERLYING CAUSE OF FACIAL AGING, NOT JUST THE SYMPTOMS

Not all anti-aging treatments are the same:

Collagen Creams: Collagen Creams do not fully penetrate the dermis, so most topical treatments are effective as moisturizers that briefly improve the skin's appearance.

Collagen Supplements: When ingested, the digestive system breaks down collagen proteins and their effectiveness remains inconclusive.

Toxins: Toxins temporarily weaken muscles to minimize frown lines in the forehead. Results typically last a couple of months.

Fillers: Works immediately upon injection to fill in lines, wrinkles and folds.

How does Sculptra work?

As a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator, Sculptra Aesthetic helps restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles.

Sculptra works with your body within the deep dermis to help revitalize collagen production and help restore your skin’s inner structure and volume.

As the Sculptra PLLA microparticles are absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production.

Rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually helping to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds.

How long does it last?

80% of users were still satisfied with their treatment results 25 months after their last injection. Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen—the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cell and tissue—for results that can last more than two years.

What are the side effects?

The most commonly reported side effects after treatment are redness, swelling, tenderness, injection site tenderness, bruising bleeding, itching and lumps.

Aftercare

Within the first 24 hours, an ice pack (avoiding any direct contact of the ice with the skin) should be applied to the treatment area to reduce swelling and bruising. Sculptra may cause redness, swelling, or bruising when first injected into the skin, typically resolving in hours to one week. Hematoma may also occur, typically resolving in hours to about two weeks. Worsening or prolonged symptoms or signs should be reported the Clinic. The original skin depression may initially reappear, but the depression should gradually improve within several weeks as the treatment effect of Sculptra occurs.

• It is recommended to massage in a circular fashion the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times per day for 5 days following any injection session, according to the physician’s advice.
• Treatment with Sculptra can result in small papules in the treated area. These subcutaneous papules are typically not visible and asymptomatic and may be noticed only upon pressing on the treatment area. However, visible nodules, sometimes with redness or color change to the skin, have been reported. Patients should report these events and any other side effects to
the clinic
• Aesthetic make-up may be applied a few hours post-treatment if no complications are present.
• Exposure of the treated area to sun and UV lamp exposure are to be avoided until any initial swelling and redness has resolved. Patients will be informed about appropriate sunscreen protection according to the physician’s advice.
