What areas can be treated?
Restylane Skinboosters treatments can be used to improve the general skin quality of your face but also to improve exposed and sensitive areas such as your neck, décolletage and hands as well as areas with acne-scarred skin.

Who would be suitable for this treatment?
Anyone can benefit from the treatment, but in particular, people with dry, aged or dull skin, with large pores, will see the most results. People who have depressed acne scars will also benefit greatly.

How does it work?
Each treatment involves a series of hydrating microinjections of long-lasting hyaluronic acid, also called stabilised HA, a water-loving substance found naturally in the body that maintains hydration in the skin.
Stabilised HA is a soft, gel-like substance that absorbs water and brings deep skin hydration to the treated areas, giving it improved firmness, elasticity and smoothness.
Restylane Skinboosters reverse the skin aging process by reintroducing hyaluronic acid into the skin. Once injected, the water-loving hyaluronic acid molecules start to absorb water up to 200 times its weight and swell, bringing about profound hydration to the skin from inside out. With dramatically improved hydration, the skin looks plumper, brighter, and more youthful.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar molecule in our skin. It gives our skin the plumpness and hydration associated with youthful, healthy skin. However, over time, our skin loses collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, and it becomes drier, rougher and less elastic.

What are the side effects?
You should expect that there will be some minor bruising and swelling around the treatment areas for a day or two afterwards. Your practitioner may recommend a clean cooling pad to help reduce swelling.

Aftercare
While you may see results after just one treatment, for optimal results you will need additional treatments (usually 3 treatments per year or 3 consecutive treatments four weeks apart, with an additional one every 6 months).

The body will gradually break down the H.A in Restylane Skinboosters over the course of the year.

Immediate Post-Treatment Care:

Effective aftercare begins the moment you leave the clinic. Below are some of the actions to consider in the days following your Skin Boosters that will help to avoid any issues during the early post-treatment stage.

Be gentle with your skin

It is important to be delicate with the treated area following your treatment. We advise that you avoid the temptation to rub or touch the treated area for at least 24 hours following your treatment. This will prevent any irritation or the risk of infection.

Avoid using makeup in the 24 hours following treatment

We strongly recommend that you avoid applying makeup for the first 24 hours following treatment. This will allow your skin to heal without anything getting into the injection site.

We advise that if you are yet to have your Skin Boosters, that you plan to have them away from any events where you may want to wear makeup.

Avoid heavy sun exposure

Although this may be difficult during the summer months, please try to protect your skin from direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time in the days following your treatment. Doing so may put you at risk of increased inflammation and damage to your skin.

If you need to go outdoors or into the sun for a long time, opt for shade or a hat that can protect you from the sun. It is essential that you also apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of 30SPF or higher.

Apply a cold compress if necessary

If advised and approved by your doctor, you may apply a cold compress, such as an ice pack wrapped in a thick cloth, to help to reduce any swelling or ease discomfort following your treatment.

When to contact us -
After your skin booster treatment, it’s normal to experience some redness and swelling. However, if you notice severe or persistent pain, please contact us promptly. Similarly, if swelling or redness worsens over time, it may be a sign of infection. Be vigilant for symptoms such as increasing warmth, tenderness, or discharge at the treatment site, and inform us if these occur. Although rare, allergic reactions can happen. Symptoms like difficulty breathing, hives, severe itching, or swelling beyond the treated area necessitate immediate medical care. Changes in skin color, such as noticeable darkening or lightening of the treated area, should also be reported to us immediately. If your treatment was near the eyes and you experience any vision changes, please get in touch without delay.
